SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AS A FOUNDATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN PROGRESS

Abstract

Scientific research plays a fundamental role in advancing human knowledge, improving quality of life, and promoting sustainable development across societies. The continuous growth of science has contributed significantly to technological innovation, economic development, healthcare improvement, environmental protection, and educational transformation. This paper examines the importance of scientific research as a driving force for global progress, highlighting its contribution to solving contemporary challenges and supporting evidence-based decision-making. A qualitative review of relevant literature was conducted to explore the relationship between scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development. The findings indicate that investment in scientific research strengthens national competitiveness, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, and accelerates technological advancement. However, insufficient funding, limited international cooperation, unequal access to research resources, and ethical concerns continue to hinder scientific progress in many developing countries. The study concludes that strengthening research infrastructure, encouraging international collaboration, and promoting open scientific communication are essential for achieving sustainable global development.
