Abstract

Preventive healthcare has become one of the most effective approaches to reducing the global burden of chronic diseases and improving population health. While advances in medical science have significantly improved the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, prevention remains the most cost-effective strategy for decreasing morbidity, mortality, and healthcare expenditures. This study examines the role of preventive healthcare in controlling chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, diabetes mellitus, chronic respiratory diseases, obesity, and certain types of cancer. A qualitative literature review was conducted using peer-reviewed scientific publications and reports from international health organizations. The findings demonstrate that preventive interventions, including health education, vaccination, regular medical screening, healthy nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco control, substantially reduce disease incidence and improve quality of life. The study also identifies barriers to effective preventive healthcare, including socioeconomic inequalities, limited access to healthcare services, insufficient public awareness, and inadequate healthcare infrastructure. Strengthening preventive medicine through multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based public health policies is essential for achieving sustainable healthcare systems worldwide.
