Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is one of the most common nutritional and hematological disorders affecting women, particularly during the reproductive period. Increased iron requirements associated with menstruation, pregnancy and lactation make women more vulnerable to iron deficiency. Iron deficiency may develop gradually and can affect physical performance, cognitive function, general well-being and reproductive health. In pregnancy, untreated iron deficiency anemia may be associated with maternal and neonatal complications.
